For Immediate Release: January 21, 2022

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will offer a variety of summer classes and week-long camps in Sports, Enrichment, Nature, Creative and Performing Arts, Technology and Aquatics. A full list of activities will be available for review online by Wednesday, February 9. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23 for City residents and Friday, February 25 for nonresidents.

Additionally, the Power-On Out of School Time Program (OSTP) Summer Camp will be offered at multiple recreation centers and school locations for children entering first through sixth grades in fall 2022. A Power-Up OSTP Summer Camp will be offered at one location for youth entering sixth through tenth grades in fall 2022. The eight-week OSTP summer camps are open to City residents only, and priority will be given to families who qualify for financial assistance through a preregistration process.

Preregistration applicants are required to verify eligibility by completing a Preregistration Eligibility Form between February 7 and February 12. Beginning February 7, the form will be available online. Printed forms will be available for pickup and drop-off at the following locations:

All eligible families who submitted a preregistration eligibility form by the Saturday, February 12 deadline will be placed in a computerized lottery, which randomly selects the order of eligible applicants and generates a waitlist if needed. Once the preregistration process is complete, any remaining openings will be filled using general online registration beginning on Wednesday, February 23, at 9 a.m. Beginning Thursday, February 24, in-person registration for any remaining openings will be available at the locations listed above.

All programs will follow current COVID-19 safety protocols for staff, participants and facilities. Enrollment minimum and maximum varies by location based on facility size, health requirements and current staffing levels.
