[Archived] Mentor One Child, Change Two Lives: Alexandria Celebrates National Mentoring Month

For Immediate Release: January 13, 2022

The City of Alexandria invites the public to join the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership (AMP) in celebrating National Mentoring Month in January. Its purpose is to raise awareness about the benefits of mentoring programs and the positive effects of mentoring for Alexandria’s most vulnerable residents. The AMP represents a variety of programs that strive to provide exceptional support to youth and adults in the Alexandria community.

Here is how you can celebrate National Mentoring Month:

The City has expanded resources for AMP by creating a new dedicated AMP Coordinator position. David Ulloa has been selected as AMP Coordinator. In this role, he will elevate the opportunities and needs for mentoring in Alexandria by enhancing and expanding relationships with for-profit, nonprofit, government and community organizations to ensure that every youth or young adult who needs a mentor has one, and that caring adults gain the skills needed to support positive youth development.
