The City of Alexandria will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a virtual community program premiering Friday, January 14, at 7 p.m. The program, “It Starts With Me: Shifting Priorities to Build the Beloved Community,” will be presented by the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Planning Committee. The virtual event will premiere on the City’s website, social media and cable channels 70/1084.
This year’s celebration will feature opening remarks by U.S. Senator Mark Warner and Mayor Justin Wilson; “It Starts With Me: A Call to Action,” presented by former Councilwoman Redella S. “Del” Pepper; performances and musical selections provided by local youth and the Alexandria City High School Orchestra; and remarks by retiring City Manager Mark Jinks.
