[Archived] Alexandria City Council Seeks Applicants for Independent Community Policing Review Board

The Alexandria City Council is seeking applicants to fill the eight inaugural vacancies on the City’s Independent Community Policing Review Board, which was established in July. The purpose of this Board is to enhance policing legitimacy and to increase and maintain trust between and among the Alexandria Police Department, City Council, City Manager and the public.

The seven voting members of the Board must be City of Alexandria residents, and shall  demonstrate fairness, integrity and objectivity. Board members will be chosen based on expertise and personal experience (including lived experience) relevant to the performance of the Board’s duties.

All applicants must review the Call for Applications and complete an online Personal Data Record form via the City’s website at alexandriava.gov/Boards using the “Apply” button located beneath the Boards and Commissions search bar). The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. Friday, November 12.

A City Council-appointed Independent Policing Auditor/Investigator will also staff the review Board.
