[Archived] City of Alexandria Hosts The Fund for Alexandria’s Child Virtual Gala “Families Helping Families: From Our Home to Yours”

For Immediate Release: August 3, 2021

The Fund for Alexandria’s Child (The Fund) will host its second virtual gala on August 12, at 8 p.m. to benefit at-risk children and children in foster care. The public is invited to attend the interactive and inspiring event featuring a live auction, prizes, a raffle, entertainment, special guests and more, all from the comfort and safety of home.

In recognition of the challenges faced this year, and to bring together as many supporters as possible, the Gala will be free. This year’s theme “Families Helping Families: From Our Home to Yours” celebrates the community’s collective achievements in keeping families in the child welfare system together, meeting the basic needs of vulnerable families, and making the lives of children in foster care more normal.

Major sponsors of this year’s event include The Goodhart Group, Hudson Lake, Monument Title Company, Bombay Curry Company, R&B Heating and Air Conditioning, CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union, Northern VA Association of Realtors, Barbara Sherlock, Suzie Kratzok, Stone Dentistry, Taqueria el Poblano and Mid-Atlantic Children’s Services, Inc.

The Fund is composed of volunteers who provide children with enriching opportunities, such as music, fine arts and sports lessons, yearbooks and outings. Over the last 18 months, The Fund has received an influx of referrals for families with immediate needs due to income loss. It has become more important than ever to rally around children and families by providing items that matter deeply to those in need, such as emergency beds and linens, basic housing necessities, back-to-school supplies, summer camp enrollments and more.
