[Archived] City of Alexandria Provides COVID-19 Updates; AHD Vaccine Clinic Update; Weekly Vaccine Updates

For Immediate Release: June 11, 2021

Help end the pandemic by wearing a mask over both your nose and mouth, washing your hands frequently, and getting vaccinated. Approximately 1 in 20 Alexandrians who have tested positive for COVID-19 have required hospitalization, so without these critical steps, additional lives may be at risk.

AHD Vaccine Clinic Updates

On Wednesday, June 9, the Alexandria Health Department (AHD) hosted its first COVID-19 vaccine clinic at their new clinic site located at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The vaccine clinic can be accessed through the West Parking Garage on Elizabeth Lane.

The vaccination event scheduled to take place at New Brookside Apartments on Thursday, June 10 was canceled due to inclement weather. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 601 Four Mile Rd., Alexandria, VA 22305. Patients impacted by the cancelation can walk up at the event on Sunday or schedule a new appointment at a different location. AHD has attempted to contact everyone who had scheduled an appointment and was impacted by the cancelation. For assistance scheduling a vaccine appointment, visit alexandriava.gov/Vaccines or call the Alexandria COVID-19 Hotline at 703.746.4988, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Weekly Vaccine Updates

Between June 4 and June 10, AHD administered first doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 413 people and fully vaccinated 649 people with either a second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Vaccination opportunities in Alexandria are available at pharmacies, private providers, and hospital system providers. AHD and community provider vaccine clinics are listed on alexandriava.gov/Vaccines. Both scheduled and walk-in opportunities are available.
