[Archived] Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities Seeks Applications, Nominations for Scholarship and Awards

For Immediate Release: May 4, 2021 

The Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities (ACPD) is seeking applications for the Gerry Bertier Scholarship, and nominations for the John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award, and two Disability Awareness Awards presented in conjunction with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for scholarship applications and award nominations is May 24.

Gerry Bertier Scholarship

Applications are being accepted for this merit-based scholarship, awarded to an Alexandria resident or student with a disability who is seeking post-secondary education.

Nominations are being sought for the following awards:

John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award
This award recognizes an individual who advocates for and contributes to the promotion of equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in Alexandria.

Disability Awareness Awards (in conjunction with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce)

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, awards will be presented via prerecorded video.

Visit alexandriava.gov/ACPD to submit a nomination for the Collins Award, or to apply for the Bertier Scholarship. Visit the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce to submit a nomination for the Disability Awareness Awards.
