Alexandria Police Department Releases New Information In “Shots Fired” Call That Led To Pursuit And In-Custody Death in Washington, D.C.

The Alexandria Police Department continues to investigate the “shots fired” weapons violation in the 800 block of N. Patrick Street on April 6, 2021, which led to a pursuit that ended in a crash and an in-custody death in Washington, D.C.  The following is additional information since our previous update.

The three suspects arrested on April 6, 2021 are Joseph Stokes, 41, of Washington, D.C., Sean Pendleton, 37, of Washington, D.C., and Merton Thomas, 37, of Alexandria, VA (Fairfax County).  They were charged with Shooting Into An Occupied Dwelling.

The Alexandria Police Department has placed the six officers involved on Administrative Duties as an internal review of the incident continues.

The Metropolitan Police Department is handling the death investigation.
