For Immediate Release: January 16, 2021
The City of Alexandria will co-host a recorded panel of local medical experts, civic leaders and community leaders to answer questions about COVID-19 vaccines. A premiere of the panel discussion will be available online in English, Spanish, Amharic and Arabic at 5 p.m. on January 27.
Vaccines are one of the most powerful tools to end the pandemic. Vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect loved ones, save lives, and avoid economically damaging lockdowns. With the availability of new vaccines so quickly, some members of the community have questions about how they work or how they were developed.
In addition to answering questions from the community, the panel will discuss COVID-19 vaccine safety and effectiveness, the role vaccines play in ending the pandemic, who is currently eligible to be vaccinated, and what to expect when vaccines are more widely available. Submit questions for the panel by noon on January 21.
A collaboration between the City of Alexandria, the Alexandria Health Department, the Alexandria Human Rights Commission, the Alexandria Chapter of the NAACP, and Tenants and Workers United, this event will be the first in a series of panels addressing the vaccine and impacts of the pandemic in our community.
