[Archived] Alexandria Health Department Provides More Than 1,800 Free Flu Vaccinations at Two Clinics

The Alexandria Health Department (AHD) and the City of Alexandria conducted two recent free flu shot clinics and administered a total of 1,802 flu vaccines. Vaccinations were administered to 962 participants at a walk-up clinic today at Francis C. Hammond Middle School and 840 participants at a drive-through clinic at T.C. Williams High School on September 26. The clinic was supported by AHD’s Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and staff from multiple City agencies. 

It is even more essential to receive a flu vaccination this year because the influenza virus shares many symptoms with COVID-19. Annual flu vaccinations are recommended for everyone ages 6 months and older, and AHD encourages everyone who was unable to attend these flu vaccine events, or seniors who require the higher-dose vaccine, to contact their local pharmacy, urgent care clinic or healthcare provider.
