[Archived] Alexandria City Council to Hold Emergency Meeting on March 24 to Continue COVID-19 Response

To maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Alexandria City Council will meet by telephone on Tuesday, March 24, at 7 p.m. In accordance with state law, City Council will only consider items related to the emergency.

The docket will include an emergency ordinance implementing procedures to ensure continuity of city government and modify public meeting procedures and other public practices; an emergency ordinance to impose a moratorium on penalties and interest for restaurant meals taxes, hotel and short-term homesharing taxes, and business license taxes; resolutions to change the filing deadline for business personal property taxes and elderly and disabled tax relief applications; and a resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for grants.
