[Archived] City of Alexandria Reminds Voters of Absentee Voting Deadlines for the March 3 Presidential Primary

The City of Alexandria reminds voters of absentee voting options for the Democratic Party presidential primary election on Tuesday, March 3. Voters in Virginia do not register by party, so any person registered to vote in Alexandria may vote in the March 3 primary.

There is no Republican Party presidential primary this March. Instead, the Republican Party will hold a statewide nominating convention this spring.

Voters who qualify for absentee ballots may request that their absentee ballots be mailed to them, or they may cast their absentee ballots in person.

Absentee Voting by Mail

For voters who wish to vote absentee by mail, applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25 in the Alexandria Voter Registration & Elections Office.

 Apply by mail, fax or email using the application (and instructions) on the City's Elections page, or by requesting an application from the Alexandria Voter Registration & Elections Office at 703.746.4050.

Absentee Voting in Person

Voters who wish to cast their absentee ballots in person must complete their ballot applications at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections (132 N. Royal St., Suite 100). The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person is Saturday, February 29, at 5 p.m.

In-person absentee voting hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with extended hours on the following days:

Election Day Voting

On Tuesday, March 3, all polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. You may check your registration status and polling place location through the Virginia Department of Elections at vote.elections.virginia.gov.
