Alexandria Police Department and Commonwealth's Attorney Office to Hold Press Conference Regarding the Resolution of the Rape Case Against Jesse Bjerke

 

For Immediate Release: October 16, 2019

The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney anticipates the rape case against Jess Bjerke will be resolved before the Circuit Court for the City of Alexandria at 10 a.m. on October 17. Once resolved, Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Porter and Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown will address media outside the Alexandria Courthouse, located at 520 King St. 

On September 3, 2016, at approximately 2:09 p.m., a 24-year-old woman called police to report she had been abducted and raped by an unknown suspect. The victim is a lifeguard at a pool in the 200 block of S. Pickett Street. An unknown man approached the victim while she was at work; no one else was at the pool. He brandished a firearm and raped the victim. The victim was able to call for help after the suspect fled.

Bjerke was arrested and charged with Rape, Abduction, Object Penetration, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony on February 12, 2019.
