[Archived] Alexandria Transit Vision Plan Needs Public Input on Future Changes to Bus Network

For Immediate Release: October 12, 2019

Over the last two years, the City of Alexandria, DASH and other regional transit partners have been working toward developing a recommended bus network as part of the Alexandria Transit Vision (ATV) Plan. The public is invited to provide feedback on the draft bus network this fall through a variety of engagement activities shown below. The ATV Plan is redrawing the city’s bus network to better serve current/future transit demand, and to better reflect community priorities for transit service. A similar plan was recently completed in Richmond, where significant increases in ridership have occurred over the past year.

The ATV Plan involves three rounds of civic engagement to ensure that concerns and ideas of the Alexandria community are heard, recognized and incorporated into the development of a future transit network. Two possible network concepts were presented to the public in spring 2019, including a “ridership” concept and a “coverage” concept. A final recommendation is being made this fall and are being presented to the public during October and November. This comment period will end on Friday, November 22.
