[Archived] City to Host Symposium on Building Communities through Partnerships

For Immediate Release: October 7, 2019

In partnership with the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Virginia Housing Development Authority, the City of Alexandria will host a symposium on “Building Communities through Partnerships,” October 20 and 21, at the Embassy Suites Alexandria Old Town (1900 Diagonal Road). This event is designed for planners, architects, engineers, and anyone with an interest in urban and regional planning, and development in Alexandria.

This symposium will examine building communities through partnerships, with a focus on implementation in Alexandria. The event will feature several speakers from the region who will offer insight into how the City is working with civic groups and community organizations, regional entities, state government and other partners to develop innovative planning solutions for the future. The symposium will also include a waterfront networking reception; a lunchtime panel discussion on the state and local partnerships that were built to bring Amazon and the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus to Northern Virginia; and several walking tours that showcase Alexandria’s history, neighborhoods and active projects.
