[Archived] City of Alexandria to Celebrate PARK(ing) Day

For Immediate Release: September 18, 2019

On Friday, September 20, the City of Alexandria will celebrate PARK(ing) Day, a worldwide event that promotes the importance of creating and preserving public green space in urban areas by temporarily reclaiming on-street parking spaces and transforming them into exciting and imaginative park spaces or “parklets.”

Join City agencies, as well as local businesses and nonprofit organizations, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., when several on-street parking spaces around the City will be temporarily transformed into parklets. The public can explore these parklets, talk with City staff, and enjoy refreshments and giveaways. The PARK(ing) Day event is free and open to the public.

For more information about Alexandria’s PARK(ing) Day event, including a list of Old Town parklets, visit the City's PARK(ing) Day page
