[Archived] Alexandria Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Eisenhower Avenue


For Immediate Release: July 11, 2019


The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday, July 10, in the 5600 block of Eisenhower Avenue.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to the area for a single vehicle crash. Initial investigation indicates Nicholas G. Simirtzakis, a 55-year-old from Maryland, was driving westbound on Eisenhower Avenue when he struck a tree. He died at the scene of the crash.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Section and Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the collision. The investigation is ongoing. Alexandria Police ask that witnesses or people with information regarding this incident contact Officer Charles Gardiner at 703.408.6375.
