[Archived] City of Alexandria Hosts Annual “Fostering the Future” Gala to Benefit Youth in Local Foster Care

For Immediate Release: April 24, 2019

The Fund for Alexandria’s Child will host its annual Fostering the Future Gala on Friday, May 3, from 7 to 10 p.m., at Hummingbird Bar and Kitchen (located in Hotel Indigo, 220 S. Union St.). This year’s theme, “Captain’s Night,” will highlight how the community has served as an anchor for some of Alexandria’s most vulnerable youth.

The event will feature live music, a silent and live auction, a “Best of Live” raffle for auction items, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and dancing. This year’s auction boasts exciting items such as a weekend at The Inn at Perry Cabin resort in St. Michaels, Maryland, an oyster and wine tasting, Washington Nationals tickets, a four-person getaway to a luxury resort in Mexico and much more.

All proceeds will benefit children who are in foster care or at risk of abuse and neglect. Through The Fund’s community support, children are able to receive basic needs and enrichment at a critical time in their development.

The Fund is supported by volunteers from all walks of life, who aim to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community. These volunteers go beyond what the foster care system can provide, to ensure that children in crisis can enjoy many enriching opportunities, such as music lessons, sports, field trips, birthday gifts, yearbooks, summer camp and outings with family.

Major gala sponsors include: The Goodhart Group; Hudson Studio; Catherine Joyce of Morgan Stanley; R & B Heating and Air Conditioning; Barbara Sherlock; Amy and Blaine Jackson; Stone Aesthetic Dentistry; The Alexandria Euchre Club; AlphaGraphics; Pam & Frida Team at Sotheby’s International Realty; Suzanne Kratzok and Rick Howard; Lindsay and Kyle Houff; Nancy and Gerry Cooper; Monument Title Company; and Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota.
