[Archived] City of Alexandria Launches Landmark Mall Re-Planning Process

For Immediate Release: October 30, 2018

The Landmark Mall Re-Planning Process, identified as a priority of Alexandria City Council’s approved Fiscal Year 2019 Long-Range Planning Work Plan, will officially launch with a community meeting on November 14. This process will build from the existing community vision, established in the 2009 Landmark/Van Dorn Corridor Plan, for a new Landmark Mall as a mixed-use center with transit and community open spaces.

While most of the 2009 Plan elements will remain the same, this community process will consider some refinements such as new uses, incorporating flexibility of uses, and incorporating recently adopted City policies to promote traffic safety and multimodal transportation. This planning effort will result in the consideration of a master plan amendment to the 2009 Landmark/Van Dorn Corridor Plan, which serves as the guide for future development plans.
