[Archived] City of Alexandria Invites Community Participation in Survey on “What Does Health Mean to You?”

For Immediate Release: September 28, 2018

The Alexandria Health Department invites community members—including those who live, work, or play in Alexandria—to take a quick, anonymous survey about the factors that can impact their health. Survey results will be used to develop a plan to address key health issues affecting Alexandrians.

The survey, which closes on October 28, is part of a Community Health Assessment. This larger project, facilitated by the Alexandria Health Department along with regional and local partners, aims to assess Alexandria’s health status. The assessment will examine survey results alongside factors such as housing, education, socioeconomic status, food security (easy access to healthy and affordable food), and public safety.

Community members are invited to discuss survey results at a breakfast on Saturday, November 3, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the George Washington Middle School cafeteria (1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.). Attendees are asked to register online by October 28. Breakfast will be served, and live translation will be provided for Spanish, Arabic, and Amharic speakers.
