Absentee voting for the November 6 General Election begins on Friday, September 21. Many Alexandria voters are eligible to vote absentee, for example, if they are:

Absentee Voting in Person
The deadline for voting absentee in person is Saturday, November 3, at 5 p.m. In-person absentee voting hours and locations are as follows:

Absentee Voting by Mail
The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, October 30. Applications must be received in the Voter Registration Office by 5 p.m. on that day.
Voters may submit absentee ballot applications online at vote.elections.virginia.gov. They may also get a paper application at alexandriava.gov/Elections, or by contacting the Alexandria Voter Registration Office at 703.746.4050.
These absentee ballots must be received by the Voter Registration Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6. Ballots may be returned by mail or delivered personally by the voter to the Voter Registration Office, located at 132 N. Royal St.
What's on the Ballot?
In Alexandria, the November 6 ballot includes U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, Alexandria Mayor, City Council and School Board, and two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution.
The voter registration deadline for this election for those not already registered to vote at their current address is October 15. You may submit or update your registration information online at vote.elections.virginia.gov. Any eligible U.S. citizen who will be 18 years old by November 6, 2018, is eligible to register and vote in this election.
