[Archived] Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities Seeks Community Input on the use of Developer Contributions identified for Park Improvements at Ben Brenman and Armistead Boothe Parks

For Immediate Release: September 15, 2018

The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) wants your input on the use of developer contributions identified for park improvements at Ben Brenman and Armistead Boothe Parks. The City recently received a $100,000 contribution to be used towards open space improvements in the Armistead Boothe Park/Ben Brenman Park area. JBG Development provided the contribution to fulfill the following condition of the Cameron Park Development (DSUP2013-0003), as approved on May 17, 2014.

The City is seeking input from residents on how best to use the contribution. Please use the Ben Brenman and Armistead Boothe Park Improvements Survey below to share your thoughts on how the funds should be used. The suggestions below are consistent with the 2013 Citywide Parks Improvement Plan. The survey will be open until October 5, 2018.

The City expects to see an increase of use in the park because of new residents to the area, and the intent of the funds is to help support capital projects in the park to meet the increased use.

Following input received by the community, RPCA, in cooperation with Planning & Zoning, will schedule a community meeting to review recommendations received for staff to develop a recommendation to the Park & Recreation Commission, and to report back to the Planning Commission & City Council per the DSUP condition.
