[Archived] UPDATE: Smith Indicted for Murder

For Immediate Release: September 10, 2018 

On September 10, 2018, Dallas Smith, 31, of no fixed address, was indicted by a Grand Jury on 5 felony charges related to the July 23, 2018, death of Jerry Scott. The offenses occurred at Mr. Scott’s residence on E. Reed Avenue. 

Smith was charged with a total of 5 felony counts: First Degree Murder, Burglary While Armed, two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. 

Smith has been in jail since July 25, 2018, when Alexandria Police detectives arrested him on a felony charge of Obstruction. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Brad Cecchetti at 703.746.6858.

UPDATE: Suspicious Death Ruled a Homicide

The Alexandria Police Department is continuing to investigate a death in the unit block of E. Reed Avenue. The victim was discovered on Monday, July 23, 2018. An autopsy conducted Tuesday morning ruled the death a homicide.

This is the third homicide in Alexandria in 2018.
 
Police Investigate Suspicious Death On E. Reed Avenue

The Alexandria Police Department is conducting a suspicious death investigation in the unit block of E. Reed Avenue on Monday, July 23, 2018.

At approximately 7:14 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a medical call for service. Upon arriving, officers located an adult male inside a residence with trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Jerry Scott, 82, of Alexandria.
