[Archived] Absentee Voting Deadlines for June 12 Democratic and Republican Primaries

Virginia voters who qualify for an absentee ballot for the June 12 Democratic or Republican primary elections may request to have absentee ballots mailed to them, or they may cast absentee ballots in person.

Absentee Voting by Mail

The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, June 5. Applications must be received in the Alexandria Voter Registration Office by 5 p.m. on this day.

Voters may submit absentee ballot applications online through the Virginia Department of Elections at vote.elections.virginia.gov.

Voters may also print paper applications at alexandriava.gov/Elections, or request mailed applications by contacting the Alexandria Voter Registration Office at 703.746.4050.

Absentee Voting in Person

The deadline to cast an absentee ballot in person is Saturday, June 9, at 5 p.m. To cast an absentee ballot in person, go to the Alexandria Voter Registration Office at 132 North Royal St., Suite 100.

In-person absentee voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with extended hours on June 5, 6, and 7 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Alexandria, the June 12 Democratic Primary is to nominate Democratic candidates for Alexandria Mayor and City Council; the June 12 Republican Primary is to nominate a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate. All persons qualified to vote may request a ballot for either primary, however, they may not vote in both ( Virginia Code 24.2-530).

Election Day Voting

On Tuesday, June 12, all regular polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. You may check your registration status and polling place location through the Virginia Department of Elections at vote.elections.virginia.gov.
