For Immediate Release: May 18, 2018

The Alexandria Beautification Commission is currently seeking nominations for their annual Beautification Awards. Nominees should demonstrate exceptional efforts in contributing to the beautification of their communities, neighborhoods and residences through architecture, landscaping or sustainable practices. Nominees may be residents, businesses or community groups, provided that they have not received a Beautification Award within the previous five years.

Nominations will be accepted for the following six categories:

In the early fall, the Commission will host its 2018 Alexandria Beautification Awards Ceremony, where the winners will be announced and presented with awards by the Mayor and members of the City Council. The Beautification Awards are a celebration of excellence in the community,” says Christina Mazurkevich, Commission member and real estate agent. “It’s a way to recognize the exemplary efforts of those individuals, businesses and organizations that make Alexandria a beautiful place to live and to visit.”

“When community stakeholders participate in the nomination process, they not only salute exceptional beautification efforts, but also encourage those devoted to the embellishment of our City,” says Oscar Mendoza with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
