[Archived] 2nd Annual Celebrate the World Day of Puppetry Saturday, March 24

The National Capital Puppetry Guild and the Office of the Arts will present the 2nd Annual “Celebrate the World Day of Puppetry” on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St. Doors open at 9 a.m. 

The World Day of Puppetry will offer family-oriented puppet performances, hands-on workshops, exhibits and sales tables.  Nine puppetry performances will feature Bob Brown Puppets, Dinorock, Silly Goose and Val, Goodlife Theater, and more!

Other activities include hands-on puppet-making workshops for families. Reservations are required. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.  

• Workshop #1 – Sock Puppets, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Ages 1 - 6 years old.
  Socks provided.  One sock per paid participant, $5 per person (Activity # 355211-04)  
  
• Workshop #2 – Basic TV Style Puppet Construction, 1:45 – 2:30 p.m., Ages 10 years to Adult.
  One puppet per paid participant, $10 per person  (Activity # 355211-05)       
  
• Workshop #3 – Puppet Making for Young Children, 12:15 p.m.-1 p.m.  Ages 5 - 8 years old.
  One puppet per paid participant, $5 per person (Activity # 355211-06)
