[Archived] First Friday: “Chinese New Year Celebration”

Enjoy a bit of Chinese culture at First Friday's “Chinese New Year Celebration” sponsored by the Office of the Arts on February 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St. A “meet and greet” begins at 6 p.m. with light refreshments complements of the Office of the Arts.  Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m.

The evening will include the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe dancing several traditional Chinese Folk Dances accompanied by Alice Guzheng Ensemble, Mr. Zhang on a traditional instrument called hulusi, and a vocalist Mr. Lin.  A Chinese Kungfu, Martial Arts demonstration and the City’s Mobile Art Lab leading interactive art activity will round off the evening’s festivities. There will be something for every member of your family.  Plan to come in traditional Chinese outfits and experience a bit of China in Alexandria!

The “Chinese New Year Celebration” is part of the “First Fridays” Series.   The Series is a project of the Office of the Arts, a division of the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
