[Archived] City of Alexandria Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Scheduled for Friday, November 24

Kick off the holiday season by making plans to attend the 2017 City of Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 24, at 6 p.m., in Market Square (301 King St.). Admission is free and the event will occur rain or shine.

The event will begin with a welcome by the Town Crier and remarks from Mayor Allison Silberberg, followed by a performance by Santa’s Frosty Follies from the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center and the lighting of the tree by Mayor Silberberg and Santa and Mrs. Claus. After the tree lighting, children may visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus on stage, and everyone is invited to a performance next to the tree by the Virginia Bronze Resonances Handbell Ensemble.

The public is encouraged to take public transit or walk to the event.  Visitors to Old Town can take Metrorail’s Blue or Yellow lines to the King Street - Old Town Station and then take the free King Street Trolley to the event.
