[Archived] Police Investigate a Homicide, Suspect Deceased

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, October 22, 2017, in the 200 block of N. Pickett Street

At approximately 8:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a shooting in All Veterans Park. Upon arriving, officers located two victims who had been shot. 

The female victim, a 17-year-old City resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A male victim, a 15-year-old City resident, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is currently listed in stable condition.

The suspect, Yerson Nunez Lopez, a 19-year-old resident of Maryland, was found deceased at the scene with self-inflicted injuries. The suspect and the victims were known to each other.
