[Archived] Alexandria Health Department to Host Free Flu Shot Clinic Oct. 21

For Immediate Release: October 19, 2017

The Alexandria Health Department will hold a free flu shot clinic on Saturday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center (formerly Cora Kelly Recreation Center). Flu shots are available for adults and children six months and older. All are welcome. No ID or insurance required.

Every year, millions of Americans are affected by the flu, with many ending up hospitalized. The flu is a serious illness, but it can be prevented with an annual flu shot.

This event also helps protect the Alexandria community by providing an opportunity for Health Department staff to vaccinate a large number of people in a field setting.  This is an important skill for staff to maintain in the event of a public health emergency.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended. To request a reasonable accommodation or an alternative format, email nate.smith@vdh.virginia.gov or call 703.746.4934, Virginia Relay 711.
