[Archived] Volunteer Recruitment Event: Calling Alexandrians to Make an Impact in the Community

For Immediate Release: October 10, 2017

Looking for a way to help strengthen your community? The City of Alexandria is holding a Volunteer Recruitment Event on Monday, October 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke St.

Event participants will include the Office of Historic Alexandria, domestic violence and sexual assault programs, Alexandria Mentoring Partnership, Alexandria Campaign on Adolescent Pregnancy, Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition of Alexandria, Alexandria Library, Stormwater Management Division, and other City programs that partner with volunteers.  Attendees will have the chance to speak with representatives from City departments and find their preferred volunteer opportunities.

In addition to making significant contributions to community programs, volunteers gain experience, connect with others, and increase emotional well-being. Research has also shown another surprising benefit: those who give their time often feel they have more of it.
