[Archived] Calling All Photographers: RPCA Photo Contest Now Accepting Submissions

For Immediate Release: September 8, 2017

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities invites all photographers, both amateur and professional, to share your best original photos taken at any City of Alexandria park, center, program, or event. We're especially looking for high resolution photos that best represent the Department’s mission to "Support the well-being of Alexandria's residents by ensuring access to a variety of quality recreation, park and cultural experiences." 

Photo submissions are being accepted through October 15, 2017 with public voting online November 1-15, 2017. All photos have the possibility of being used in publications and promotions, with photographer acknowledgment when feasible. 

Prizes will be awarded for each category: Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Activities. There will also be one Grand Prize winner. Winners are scheduled to be announced on December 1, 2017 on the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities website at www.alexandriava.gov/Recreation. All winning photographs will be displayed on the Parks and Recreation website and at various recreation centers, and all winning photographers will receive an award certificate in addition to their prize.
