[Archived] Fort Ward Tennis Courts Replacement Begin September 11

For Immediate Release: August 29, 2017

The City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will be replacing the tennis courts at Fort Ward Athletic Facility, 4301 West Braddock Rd. The work includes removing the existing tennis courts, adding a sub-base, repaving, new coating lined for tennis, new fencing, new gates and installation of new nets.

Weather permitting, work is scheduled for September 11 through November 10. Please note that the new asphalt must cure for two weeks after installation before new lines and color can be applied.

The park will be open during construction, but parking will be limited near the tennis courts. Patrons should expect work throughout the day. For your safety, please be alert to construction activities and use extra caution when moving around the site.

Alternate courts for use during construction at Minnie Howard located at 4421 West Braddock Rd. (may not be available during school hours) and Chinquapin Park located at 3210 King St.
