[Archived] Alexandria Police Arrest Man After Robbery Attempt, Sexual Battery

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an attempt robbery and sexual battery that occurred in the area of Duke Street and N. Jordan Street on Monday, August 14, 2017.

At approximately 3:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to an attempted robbery on the bike trail near Holmes Run Parkway. A male suspect grabbed the victim from behind and demanded money. The victim struggled with the suspect and he fled on foot.

At 3:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Jordan Street for call where a suspect grabbed the buttocks of a women walking up the stairs inside an apartment building. The victim screamed at the suspect and he fled. The suspect in both incidents was described as a black male with short hair, who was also tall and slim.

Joshua Sprinkle, 18, City resident, has been charged with Attempted Robbery and Abduction for the first incident, and Sexual Battery for the second incident. Sprinkle was arrested on August 16, 2017, and is being held without bond.

It is possible Sprinkle may have assaulted other women and anyone with information about this incident or others is asked to contact Detective Brad Cecchetti at 703.746.6858.
