[Archived] Police Arrest Suspect After Officer Involved Shooting

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred this morning at the intersection of King Street and St. Asaph Street.
At approximately 6:45 a.m., Alexandria Police responded to a call for a disorderly man attempting to smash in car windows. When the first officer arrived at the scene, the suspect assaulted her, striking her in the head. She subsequently fired one round from her weapon. The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody. The officer was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Clyde Eugene Reynolds, age 51, of no fixed address, was charged with Malicious Wounding of a Police Officer. Reynolds is being held without bond.
