[Archived] City of Alexandria Hosts “DMV CommUNITY: We Are One” Soccer Tournament

For Immediate Release: June 5, 2017

On June 17, youth soccer players from across the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area will meet  in Alexandria for the “DMV CommUNITY: We are One" Soccer Tournament. The tournament, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be held at the George Washington Middle School field, located behind the school at 1005 Mount Vernon Ave. Celebrate soccer, community, youth, and sportsmanship at a fun event that includes contests, raffles, food, trophies and more. 

This region-wide, free tournament is open to youth ages 11 to 14. Teams of 10 players may participate and will receive a free tournament t-shirt and lunch. Winning teams will be awarded trophies, and the tournament champion will be awarded D.C. United tickets for an upcoming home game.

The tournament is sponsored by the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, Alexandria Gang Prevention Community Task Force, Metropolitan Police Department (Washington, D.C.), D.C. United, To the Rescue, Alexandria Soccer Association, Office of Latino Affairs (Washington, D.C.), N.T. Auto Body, and the Montgomery County Street Outreach Network.
