City of Alexandria to Resurface Portions of Southbound U.S. Route 1 Beginning May 21

For Immediate Release: May 18, 2017

On May 21, the City of Alexandria will begin resurfacing all lanes of North and South Henry streets, between First Street and Franklin Street, which includes a southbound section of U.S. Route 1. Paving will take place overnight on weeknights between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting. The work, which will be conducted in four-block sections, is expected to be completed by June 2.

Vehicle parking will be restricted on the affected street sections during the project’s work hours for the duration of the paving. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted before construction activity begins. Traffic in the immediate and surrounding areas may also be redirected. Please observe all parking and detour signage. Vehicles parked contrary to posted signs may be ticketed or towed.
