[Archived] Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash at Duke and Quaker

For Immediate Release

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Monday, May 8, 2017, in the intersection of Duke Street and N. Quaker Lane.

At approximately 10:44 p.m., police responded to the area for a collision between two vehicles. Initial investigation indicates a 79-year-old Fairfax man was driving southbound on Quaker Lane when he proceeded through a red traffic light and struck a vehicle in the intersection. The driver of the striking vehicle died at the scene of the crash. The two occupants of the other vehicle were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.  

Members of the Criminal Investigations Section and Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
