[Archived] First Friday: “Taste of Cinco de Mayo” – May 5

Plan to bring your family to First Friday: “Taste of Cinco de Mayo” at the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St. on Friday, May 5.  The evening will be showcase Mexican music food, music and dance.  Mexican culinary delights start your evening sponsored by local restaurants.  

Meet and Greet begins at 6 p.m.  Beginning at 6;30 p.m., the "Sónale" for Son Jarocho Alexandria group will kick-off the festivities with traditional rural music of Veracruz in the Golf region of Mexico.  The Quetzales Mexican Dance Ensemble, Northern Virginia's premier Mexican folkloric performing company will provide a spectacular 60 minute performance beginning at 7 p.m.  Ocho de Bastos, a Latin jazz band will culminate the evening’s festivities and get you on your feet with the Latin beat.   

Advance tickets: $5 resident/$10 nonresident. At door tickets: $10 resident/$15 nonresident. Children must be accompanied by one adult.  To purchase online, visit www.alexandriava.gov/Webtrac, select activity #455206.02. 

The "Taste of Cinco de Mayo" is part of the "First Fridays" Series.   The Series is a project of the Office of the Arts, a division of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
