[Archived] City of Alexandria to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for Windmill Hill Park Shoreline Restoration Project

For Immediate Release: April 13, 2017

Mayor Allison Silberberg and the Alexandria City Council invite the public to a groundbreaking ceremony for the Windmill Hill Park Shoreline Restoration Project on Saturday, April 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Windmill Hill Park, 501 South Union St. The ceremony will occur rain or shine.

The project consists of replacing the failed bulkhead and eroding shoreline along the river with a “living shoreline,” as approved by City Council in June of 2015. Improvements will also be made to Union St. adjacent to the park, consistent with the Union Street Corridor Study.

For more information, visit the Windmill Hill Park Shoreline Project website or contact Matthew Landes, PLA, Principal Planner, Department of Project Implementation, at matthew.landes@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.4122.
