[Archived] Adkins Convicted of Murder

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 26, 2017

Rashad Lonzell Adkins, 22, of Alexandria, VA, was convicted by a jury of two felonies related to a murder that occurred in the City on July 2, 2015.

On that date Adkins and the victim, Shakkan Elliott-Tibbs, engaged in a verbal argument in the 700 block of N. Fayette Street. The altercation turned physical, and Adkins produced a .40 handgun and shot Tibbs at least 4 times. Adkins then fled the area. Shortly thereafter, Tibbs succumbed to his injuries.

Adkins was convicted of murder in the second degree and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. The jury is currently deliberating what sentence to recommend to the Court.

The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney will update and supplement this press release once the jury's sentence has been tendered to the Court.
