Kick off the holiday season by making plans to attend the 2016 City of Alexandria Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 25, at 6 p.m., at Market Square, 301 King St. Admission is free and the event will occur rain or shine.
Mayor Allison Silberberg and Santa Claus will light the City tree in Market Square, accompanied by Mrs. Claus and a return of Santa’s Frosty Follies by the Metropolitan Fine Arts Center. In addition, the Little Theater of Alexandria will present portions of their annual production of A Christmas Carol and lead carols around the City tree.
The public is encouraged to take public transit or walk to the event. Visitors to Old Town can take the Metrorail’s Blue or Yellow lines to the King Street – Old Town Station and then take the free King Street Trolley to the event.
