For Immediate Release: October 14, 2016

The City of Alexandria is launching GO Alex, a program providing residents, commuters and visitors with information and resources about getting in and around the City.  Formerly known as Local Motion, GO Alex is a one-stop shop for travelers to learn about transportation alternatives in Alexandria that reduce single vehicle occupancy and enhance the quality of life.

GO Alex encourages the reduction of automobile dependence, increasing mobility, and improving air quality through the promotion of public transit, ridesharing, bicycling, and walking as money and time-saving alternatives. GO Alex also works to improve the commuter experience, assisting employers with creating customized commuter programs for their employees.

Recent research shows a direct connection between an employee’s commute and their quality of life. Leaving the car behind and trying new transportation options has been shown to help reduce road congestion, improve the environment, lower commuter stress levels, and improve physical health. Consider giving GO Alex a spin: to learn more about transportation alternatives in Alexandria, visit www.alexandriava.gov/GOAlex.
