[Archived] City of Alexandria Announces Fall 2016 Native Plant Sale

For Immediate Release: September 21, 2016

The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities is offering a native plant sale to help grow Alexandria’s tree canopy. Beautify your yard and help the environment by planting high quality and ecologically valuable native tree and shrub species in your yard!

The following plants will be available for purchase starting this Friday, September 23: black gum, flowering dogwood, white oak, elderberry, post oak, black oak, and sassafras (while supplies last). Plants are priced between $20 - $30. For additional information and detailed descriptions of each species, view the 2016 Native Plant Sale flier.

Orders will be accepted through October 30 and can be placed online by visiting WebTrac or in person at the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center, 5750 Sanger Ave. Plants will be available for pick up at the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center on Saturday, November 5 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
