The 14th Annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival will be held Saturday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To accommodate the event, parking will be prohibited on both sides of King Street, from Washington to Union Streets, beginning at 3 a.m., Saturday morning, until approximately 9 p.m. Sunday evening. Parking will also be prohibited on the 100 block of South Pitt Street to provide for the Hotel Monaco’s valet parking and taxi stand. In addition, one block north and south for the cross streets between King and Union (Lee, Fairfax, Royal, Pitt, and St. Asaph Streets) will be closed to traffic during operating hours of the festival; however, parking will be available on those streets (with the exception of the 100 block of Pitt Street, as noted).
On Saturday, September 17, in addition to the Art Festival, the Old Town Farmers’ Market will be operating in Market Square beginning at 7 a.m., and City Council will hold its regularly scheduled public hearing, at 9:30 a.m., in City Hall. Persons attending these events should take advantage of the City’s parking garages. The Market Square Garage will be open and accessible throughout the festival; motorists may take Cameron, Fairfax, or Royal Streets to the 100 block of N. Fairfax Street to enter the garage. Motorists exiting the Market Square garage can only make a left turn to proceed north until they reach Cameron Street.
Visitors are encouraged to use the free King Street Trolley, which will be operating during the festivities.
