For Immediate Release: July 21, 2016
There have been elections in Alexandria since George Washington’s time. This year, the Alexandria Elections Office is looking for nearly 500 civic-minded residents to make sure the Presidential Election on November 8 runs smoothly, fairly and efficiently. Election Officers must be registered voters in Virginia, and willing to work from 4:45 a.m. until after the polls close at 7 p.m. on Election Day. They receive $150 for their efforts, but the reward for preserving our democratic process is priceless.
If you are interested in serving, please come to an Open House on Thursday, July 28, from 5 to 9 p.m., or Saturday, July 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Elections Office is located at 132 N. Royal St. At the Open House, you will learn about Election Day responsibilities and share patriotic refreshments with our current Election Officers.
If you are unable to attend the Open House, you may also sign up to be an Election Officer online: Apply to be an Election Officer.
