adult programs including nature themed bike rides and seasonal nature walks! Click here to

Marvel at some
of Alexandria's most spectacular trees on this bike ride with Arlington
Arborist Vincent Verweij. We’ll proceed at a leisurely pace over mostly level,
paved pathways, stopping at points of natural and environmental interest along
the way. Bring your own bicycle and water, snacks and repair kit. We will leave
from the Jerome Buddie Ford Nature Center; you are free to return to our
starting point with staff or go somewhere else. For more information contact

you concerned about Zika or West Nile Virus? Come learn about the real
versus the perceived risks of vector borne illnesses in our region.
Alexandria’s own Environmental Health Biologist, Daniel Sherwood, will lead this program and then take us to
“dip” for mosquitoes in the Dora Kelley Nature Park marsh. We will meet in the

Join us for this
seasonal rove into Dora Kelley Nature Park to hunt for spring fungi! Biologist,
Amy Milo, will give us a short introduction of the basics of fungi types and
their life cycles before we take to the woods to find and identify spring
fungi. This is a rain or shine event; please bring water and dress
appropriately (i.e. long pants/ hiking shoes). For more information

photography abilities with the camera you always have with you—your mobile
phone! A short class covering photographic techniques, composition, lighting,
your phone's settings, and photographic apps will be integrated into a
leisurely paced bicycle ride to scenic sights in Alexandria where you'll be
able to put your new skills to the test. Area photographic artist and
cycling instructor, Jason Horowitz, will answer questions along the way. Other
cameras are also welcome. Bring your own bicycle, water, snacks and repair
kit. We will leave from the Jerome Buddie Ford Nature Center; you are
