[Archived] Police Investigate Homicide on South Alfred Street

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 200 block of South Alfred Street on Monday, March 28, 2016. 

At approximately 9:33 p.m., officers responded to the area for an assault. The victim was located by police, conscious but injured. He was transported to an area hospital where it was determined he was suffering from a head injury. Investigation later determined that the assault was part of a robbery. The victim’s condition continued to worsen over several days in the hospital, and he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, April 1, 2016. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim has been identified as Melaku Abraha, 69, of Alexandria.
