[Archived] “Celebrating Poetry in Alexandria – Solo Reading by Tori Lane Kovarik, Poet Laureate, City of Alexandria”

For Immediate Release: March 17, 2016

You are invited to attend “Celebrating Poetry in Alexandria – Solo Reading by Tori Lane Kovarik, Poet Laureate, City of Alexandria” on Thursday, March 31 at 7 p.m., Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron St.

To kick-off National Poetry Month and to acknowledge Tori Lane Kovarik’s contributions to the Alexandria community, Ms. Kovarik will read a selection of her works and works of others. This will be Tori's last official reading as Poet Laureate for the City of Alexandria and before leaving the Alexandria area.

This reading is intended only for mature audiences because of adult language and content about trauma. This is a free event.

During April and May you are encouraged to ride the Alexandria Transit Company’s DASH buses and Trolleys to enjoy the poetry by local poets.  Poetry from Tori Lane Kovaik, Poet Laureate, City of Alexandria, along with DASHing Words in Motion poetry contest winners: Teddie Dyson, Caitlin Fitzsimmons, KaNikki Jakarta, Wendi Kaplan, Sarah Paez, Veeteebee, and Beverly C. Weaver will be on display. What a pleasant way to commute through Alexandria!

The Academy of American Poets has designated April as National Poetry Month to celebrate poetry and its ability to enrich everyday life. To learn more about National Poetry Month and the activities celebrated throughout the country visit Poets.org.
