Alexandria Seeks Applicants for Code of Conduct Review Committee

For Immediate Release: February 12, 2015

On January 30, 2016, City Council unanimously passed a resolution to establish an Ad Hoc Code of Conduct Review Committee.  The Committee is directed to present to City Council a draft "Alexandria City Council Code of Conduct" and “Ethics Pledge” for the Mayor, City Council, and appointed City officials, at City Council's meeting on April 12, 2016.

The Committee will include nine members with a variety of perspectives.  No member of the Committee may be an elected official, political party officer, member of the Planning Commission, Board of Architectural Review, or Board of Zoning Appeals; or City employee, contractor, bidder, or applicant.  One member will be designated by each of the seven members of City Council, and two will be appointed by the City Manager.  The City Manager's appointees must have special experience and expertise in improving government transparency, accountability and ethics.

Applicants for the two appointees of the City Manager should complete the application form at www.alexandriava.gov/Conduct no later than noon on February 26, 2016.  Once the Committee has been appointed, its membership and work will be published on the same webpage.
